General Teen Programs

The Lisle Park District offers several programs and events for teens. 

If you have any programming suggestions or would like to lead a class, please contact Mary Liz Jayne at 630-353-4306 or mljayne@lisleparkdistrict.org. If you would like to register for any of the following programs, click the register online button associated with the program or call the Lisle Recreation Center front desk at 630-964-3410.


All teen programs and trips are cooperative programs with the Lisle, Westmont, Downers Grove, Woodridge, Clarendon Hills, Bolingbrook, Darien, and Oakbrook Terrace Park Districts.


 

Photography

Photography for Teens

Darien Park District - 7301 Fairview Ave., Darien
Photography for Teens is a beginners digital photography course where teens will have fun learning about photography and their cameras. Students will learn to take better photos while learning basic composition skills. Age: 13-17.

NOTE: A digital camera is required.

Fun Teen Trips

Four Lakes Ski/Snowboarding

Drop-off / Pick-up: Four Lakes Recreation • 6005 Forest View Road, Lisle
Four Lakes is a local ski/snowboarding hill that’s great for all levels of skiing/snowboarding. The hill features five different areas ranging from beginners to advanced. Price includes three hours of skiing. Lessons and rentals are available at an additional cost. Concessions will be available for purchase. Age: 12-17.

Escape Room

Drop-off / Pick-up: Fuzzy Logic Escape Room • 130 Ogden Ave., Downers Grove
It's a race against time as players solve a series of puzzles using clues, hints and strategy to complete the objectives at hand to unveil the secret plot which is hidden within the room. Age: 12-16.

Self Defense Programs

Self Defense Seminar

Bolingbrook Recreation & Aquatic Center - 200 Lindsey Lane, Bolingbrook
This workshop is designed to be extremely effective in teaching girls how to protect themselves. The central focus is to create an extremely safe learning environment while ensuring high quality service. All instructors are members of the Bolingbrook Police Department. Training includes practicing in full force self-defense techniques on a padded instructor as well as everyday safety skills which focus on awareness and prevention skills. The workshop emphasizes techniques that can stop an attack without violence. All workshops involve physical practice, role plays, and stories to teach skills. Age: 10-15

NOTE: Students should wear athletic clothing and gym shoes.

Job Prep Programs

Interview Application Boot Camp

Location: Darien Park District • 7301 Fairview Ave., Darien
What are you going to do this summer? Need some extra cash? The summer job search starts now! On Wednesday, February 20, all job seekers, ages 15-22, are invited to the Darien Park District to meet with local park district’s that will have representatives available to tell you about their employment opportunities. Fill out an application on site, or take it home with you. Come prepared to ask and answer questions. You can also register for our interview/application training class to gain valuable knowledge on how to prepare an effective application or resume. Find out the most common mistakes teens are making during the job search and interview process. Learn how social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are used by employers to find out about you before you get an interview. Remember, you never get a second chance to make a first impression! Age: 15-22.

NOTE: Pizza and beverages will be provided for the Interview Application Training class

Babysitter's Training

Location: ARC • 8201 Janes Ave., Woodridge
Learn the characteristics of successful babysitting while taking part in discussion and role-playing activities. This class will cover skills such as how to properly handle accidents and emergencies while providing basic first aid care, child development, diapering, feeding, and playing with children. CPR is covered, although students will not be certified. Student handbook and reference materials are included. Students receive a certificate after completing the 8-hour class. Age: 10-15.

NOTE: Please bring a doll and a snack.

Junior High After Hours

It's the best thing around on a Friday night during the 2018-2019 school year!

Location: Lisle Jr. High School - 5207 Centre Avenue, Lisle


It’s the best thing around on a Friday night. Call all your friends and meet them at Lisle Junior High School to play basketball or dance with the DJ as he plays all of your favorite songs. After Hours is for Jr. High students residing in Lisle.

Students must have an After Hours card to enter. Cards may be purchased at the Lisle Park District Recreation Center, Lisle Junior High School registration or day of at the entrance to After Hours. Students need to purchase a new After Hours card each school year. Grades: 6-8.

After Hours is open to any Jr. High student located in the Lisle Park District Community and is not restricted to Lisle Jr. High students. It is fully supervised by the Lisle Park District. If you have any questions, please contact Mary Liz Jayne at 630-353-4306 or mljayne@lisleparkdistrict.org.

Teen Service Projects

The Birches Assisted Living

Drop-off / Pick-up: Birches Assisted Living - 215 55th Street, Clarendon Hills
The Birches provide their residents with the necessary resources to live a physically, mentally, and socially active life, so they can remain healthy, strong, and vibrant at any age. There are many events the facility schedules that provide recreation opportunities for the residents. Participating in volunteering for one of these events allows you to make a difference in the lives of these residents as well as have fun in the process! An additional perk is the community service hours that will be fulfilled in the process! Come out, have a great time and make a difference. Age: 12-17

Feed My Starving Children

Depart/Return: Lisle Recreation Center - 1925 Ohio Street, Lisle
Location: Feed My Starving Children • 555 Exchange Court, Aurora
Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit organization dedicated to feeding children around the world in over 70 countries. Teens will volunteer and hand-pack meals to be sent to malnourished children. Fee covers transportation and supervision. Age: 12-17.

Lisle Teens With Character

Sign Up To Become A Member Today!

Lisle Teens with Character is a great way to get involved in the community, get service hours, and build a resume.



MEMBER OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDES:
  • Monthly meetings focused on the Six Pillars of Character Counts
  • Service projects 2-4 times each month
  • Leadership opportunities
  • You choose how involved you’d like to be, no attendance requirements
  • Meet new teens from Lisle and other communities


We realize that everyone has busy lives, so we have started to utilize a service called Remind 101 to help keep people in the loop.
