The Lisle Park District offers several programs and events for teens.

Fun Teen Trips



Sea Lion Aquatic Park After Hours

Join Us On Friday, August 11 from 7:00-10:00pm

Location: Sea Lion Aquatic Park - 1825 Ohio Street, Lisle
Get your friends together and meet up at Lisle Park District’s Sea Lion Aquatic Park. We are shutting the doors to the public and keeping it open late just for you! Our DJ will be playing your favorite songs as you swim or hang out poolside with all of your friends. There may even be a contest or two thrown in just for good measure. Grades: 6-9.

Register at your park district today, or you can pay at the door! Residents of Bolingbrook, Downers Grove, Lisle, Westmont and Woodridge Park Districts will receive the resident rate for this event.

High Ropes Course

Depart/Return: Woodridge ARC • 8201 Janes Avenue, Woodridge
Located 25 feet above the athletic turf field, the ropes course is a thrilling activity with five different challenging course elements. You can even choose a free-fall experience with a controlled descent using magnetic braking technology to the turf floor below. Age: 11-17.

Paintball Trip

Depart / Return: Lisle Recreation Center • 1925 Ohio Street, Lisle
Experience the fast action sport of paintball! Enjoy 2-hours of play at Odyssey Fun World using air-pressured guns that shoot paintballs. Dash, dive and duck to avoid the opposing team by hiding behind different structures. Fee includes equipment rental (mask and gun), play time, unlimited compressed air and 300 paintballs. Coveralls may be purchased onsite for $7. You may bring additional money for snacks. Age: 11-15.

NOTE: Waivers are required and must be completed at registration by a parent/guardian.

Self Defense Seminar

Depart / Return: Annerino Community Center • 201 Recreation Drive, Bolingbrook
This workshop is designed to be extremely effective in teaching girls how to protect themselves. The central focus is to create an extremely safe learning environment while ensuring high quality service. All instructors are members of the Bolingbrook Police Department. Training includes practicing in full force self-defense techniques on a padded instructor as well as everyday safety skills which focus on awareness and prevention skills. The workshop emphasizes techniques that can stop an attack without violence. Age: 10-13.

NOTE: All workshops involve physical practice, role plays and stories to teach skills. Students should wear athletic clothing and gym shoes.

Skate Party at Darien Sportsplex

Darien Sportsplex • 451 Plainfield Road, Darien
Head over to the Darien Sportsplex and join your friends for some skating. Fee includes 2-hours of skate time and skate rental. The rink will be open from 7-9pm just for you. Come join the fun! Age: 11-17.

Alpine Valley Ski / Snowboard Trip

Depart / Return: Westmont Community Center - 75 E. Richmond Street, Westmont
Spend the day off school skiing or snowboarding at Alpine Valley Ski Resort. This popular resort features 90 skiable acres featuring over 20 runs for beginner to advanced, plus 3 terrain parks. Trip includes transportation and lift-ticket. Food is available for purchase at the resort and we will stop for dinner on the way home. Age: 11-16

NOTE: Please bring additional money for lunch, dinner and a locker if needed. A signed waiver must be completed and turned in at time of registration. Waivers are available in person or on the teen page of lisleparkdistrict.org.

Junior High After Hours

It's the best thing around on a Friday night!

Location: Lisle Jr. High School - 5207 Centre Avenue, Lisle


It’s the best thing around on a Friday night. Call all your friends and meet them at Lisle Junior High School to play basketball or dance with the DJ as he plays all of your favorite songs. After Hours is for Jr. High students residing in Lisle.

Students must have an After Hours card to enter. Cards may be purchased at the Lisle Park District Recreation Center, Lisle Junior High School registration or day of at the entrance to After Hours. Students need to purchase a new After Hours card each school year. Grades: 6-8.

After Hours is open to any Jr. High student located in the Lisle Park District Community and is not restricted to Lisle Jr. High students. It is fully supervised by the Lisle Park District. If you have any questions, please contact Mary Liz Jayne at 630-353-4306 or mljayne@lisleparkdistrict.org.

Job & College Prep Programs

Babysitting Skills for Success

Lisle Recreation Center • 1925 Ohio Street, Lisle
Learn the characteristics of successful babysitting while taking part in discussion and role-playing activities. This class will cover skills such as how to properly handle accidents and emergencies while providing basic first aid care, child development, diapering, feeding and playing with children. CPR is covered although students will not be ‘certified.’ Student handbook and reference materials are included. Students receive a certificate after completing the 8-hour class. Age: 10-15

In this seminar, we will sort through many concerns, questions, and uncertainty you may feel. Topics covered will include tips/strategies for taking the test, basics of the admissions process, and test anxiety. Students will leave feeling more confident, organized, prepared, and strategic. Age: 14-18.

The competition to get into college continues to grow each year. At Sylvan, they understand that it’s vital to help your child fulfill his or her potential and achieve the best admission scores possible. With Sylvan’s SAT prep test, your teen will benefit from test-day stress and build confidence. A representative from Sylvan will provide a proctored SAT practice test and students will be contacted with their scores and analyzed results. Age: 14-18.

Note: Participants are encouraged to bring a healthy snack and drink, #2 pencils and a calculator. Wear comfortable clothing. Cell phones will not be allowed.

Teen Service Projects

West DuPage Humane Society

Depart/Return: Lisle Recreation Center - 1925 Ohio Street, Lisle
The West DuPage Humane Society is a volunteer-based, animal welfare organization that houses up to 25 dogs and 60 cats at a time. This trip will include a tour of the shelter, a volunteer project (TBD) and time to socialize with the animals. Age: 11-16.

NOTE: If you are planning to receive service hours with this trip, please bring any forms that need to be signed. Fee includes transportation.

The Birches Assisted Living

The Birches provide their residents with the necessary resources to live a physically, mentally, and socially active life, so they can remain healthy, strong, and vibrant at any age. There are many events the facility schedules that provide recreation opportunities for the residents. Participating in volunteering for one of these events allows you to make a difference in the lives of these residents as well as have fun in the process! An additional perk is the community service hours that will be fulfilled in the process! Come out, have a great time and make a difference.

Lisle Teens With Character

Sign Up To Become A Member Today!

Join us for our first meeting and welcome BBQ on Monday, August 28 at 6:30pm to learn what Lisle Teens with Character is all about!

Lisle Teens with Character is a great way to get involved in the community, get service hours, and build a resume.



MEMBER OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDES:
  • Monthly meetings focused on the Six Pillars of Character Counts
  • Service projects 2-4 times each month
  • Leadership opportunities
  • You choose how involved you’d like to be, no attendance requirements
  • Meet new teens from Lisle and other communities
