Lisle-Woodridge Fire Fighters Union's 28th Annual Youth / Adult Fishing Derby

The Lisle-Woodridge Fire Fighters Union is pleased to announce their 30th Annual Youth / Adult Fishing Derby. Prizes will be awarded every hour of fishing for the largest catch in each of the six fish game categories. At the conclusion of the derby, awards will be presented for the overall largest catch in each category. Only youths are eligible for prizes and awards. All children must have adult supervision.

You are encouraged to pre-register at the Lisle Park District. All youths pre-registered by Saturday, May 12 are guaranteed an official derby t-shirt. Additional t-shirts may be available for those registering after the deadline or on derby day. Registration will be taken on May 26 from 6:00-6:45am.

Live bait (worms) will be sold at the derby, as well as food, snacks, and hot and cold beverages. Participants and their families will be eligible for raffle prizes throughout the event.

2015 Annual Memorial Day Parade, Ceremony & Free Community Picnic

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) Ross Bishop Memorial Post #5696 presents the Village of Lisle Memorial Day Annual Parade, Remembrance Ceremony & Community Picnic on Monday, May 28, 2018 at 11:00am.

12th Annual Parade

The Memorial Day parade will begin at 11:00am at Lisle Junior High School, 5211 Center Avenue. It will proceed down Main Street to School Street and will end at the Lisle Veterans Memorial, 4721 Center Avenue.

If you are participating in the parade, please arrive at the Lisle Junior High no later than 10:30am to receive your spot and line up.

Spectators are invited to walk in the parade. Any and all vets are welcome to participate.

Veterans Remembrance Ceremony

Ceremony begins at approximately 11:30am at the Lisle Veterans Memorial, 4721 Center Avenue. In the event of inclement weather, please proceed directly to the Lisle Cemetery, 979 Ogden Avenue.

Following the Memorial Day parade and ceremony, stop by The Museums at Lisle Station Park for our annual community picnic lunch, tour the historic structures, witness blacksmithing demonstrations performed at our working forge, and be sure to check out our “Views from Lisle” exhibit displays!

The commuter parking lot has been designated as the pick-up area for participants after the parade, and for event parking. There will be extra handicap parking available at the Bank of America on Center and the Lisle Village Hall.

Flag Etiquette:

During the playing of the National Anthem — while facing the flag and while watching a parade — at the moment the flag passes:

  • Persons in uniform should render the military salute
  • Members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are not in uniform may render the military salute
  • All other persons should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart; men not in uniform, should remove any headgear or hat with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart
  • If flag is not in sight during playing of the National Anthem, face the (source of the) music.

Are you hungry for a serving of funky, toe-tapping, hand-clapping tunes? Ben Tatar and The Tatar Tots capture the essence of fun and quirky with silly songs devoted to all things food. Tatar's shows are based around audience participation and his multi-instrumental approach to the performance, and often feature crazy dance contests, conga lines, shared instruments. Tatar's funky tunes are specifically designed to be enjoyed by both children and adults, and many selections can be heard on the Ben Tatar and the Tatar Tots 2014 release, "Food!"

This family favorite event hasn’t been offered since 2009, but we’re brining it back this summer! Come hang out with us and see how dirty you can get! We will provide the mud and we’ll play some of the muddiest games ever such as water balloon toss, relay races, and other very messy games. This event will have everyone talking for weeks, so it’s definitely one you don’t want to miss! Come in your oldest clothes and prepare to get dirty. We will provide hoses for cleaning up as much as we can. ALL AGES WELCOME!

*The South Shelter is located off Short Street just west of the Lisle Police Department adjacent to the pond.

Camping, Nature Walk, S'mores, Games, Crafts...A Night of Family Fun! Grab your camping gear and get ready for an evening under the stars in Community Park! This overnight campout will be a night of family fun!

Please Note: All children must be accompanied by an adult. (No more than 3 children per each adult). Tents and other camping gear will NOT be provided. All ages are welcome!
